AIR RIFLE SUCCESSES
07/07/2009
This summer eight members of the Modern Print Inclusive Target Shooting club entered the Small-Bore Rifle Association national postal competition.
The club achieved a credible level of success in the 10 metre air rifle competition and Angela Miles - the Disability Sport Wales development officer for Pembrokeshire - was pleased to present medals to two disabled members of the club, Colin Bond and Ron Hovell.
Colin from Pembroke, who has only been shooting for a year, did exceptionally well to win a silver medal in Division Four, while Ron from Saundersfoot won a silver medal in Division Two.
Said Angela: "This was a great achievement as the competition attracted 2,892 entries from 288 clubs across nine different disciplines."
Earlier this year, the club was proud to have the first woman in Pembrokeshire, Dawn Merry of Pembroke, to qualify as a Range Conducting Officer.

Boccia Nationals

The Welsh Boccia national competition took place last Sunday at the Welsh Institute of Sport in Cardiff. With an 8.30am registration time 4 players form Crymych Panthers travelled to Cardiff the night before, these were Sian Jones, James Pugh, Jenny Bartholomew-Biggs and Jacob Thomas. Sian, James and Jenny who have only been playing seriously just over all played well, unfortunately did not progress to the semi finals. Jacob Thomas who had been training with the GB squad in Bath earlier in the week played outstandingly, reaching the final by winning all his games. Jacob played James Ciaburro in the final and won 7-0. Angela Miles the disability sports development officer for Pembrokeshire said ‘It is great that this year Pembrokeshire had 4 players at the Nationals, all of whom played well and learnt from their experience’.
